About This Site

"Today's Fortune" is a web app that runs eleven different divination systems — ten traditions based on your date of birth, plus a name-based reading — and combines all of them into a single conclusion.

The 11 traditions used

Each system is implemented from its traditional calculation method. For parts that would otherwise require precise astronomical calculation (solar term timing, planetary positions, the Ascendant, and similar), we use well-established simplified approximations that keep practical accuracy while running instantly.

How the verdict is calculated

Overall score

Each of the 11 systems produces a score from 1 to 100. These are combined with a weighted average (Four Pillars of Destiny counts 1.5x; Vedic Astrology, the Mayan Calendar, and Tibetan Astrology each count 0.5x; everything else counts 1x) and normalised back to a 100-point scale.

Fortune rank

81-100 = Excellent Fortune, 61-80 = Good Fortune, 41-60 = Modest Fortune, 21-40 = Waning Fortune, 1-20 = Caution.

Lucky colour, item, and direction

Whichever value comes up most often across the 11 systems' individual suggestions wins by majority vote. Ties are broken by a fixed priority order among the systems.

Lucky number

Taken directly from the Numerology system's Personal Day Number (Life Path Number plus today's month and day, reduced).

The result changes every day

Every one of the 11 systems factors in today's date. Four Pillars of Destiny looks at the relationship between today's day-pillar and your own; Nine Star Ki looks at today's day chart against your birth star; Numerology uses your Personal Day Number — each tradition reads the relationship between "who you are" and "what today is" in its own way. That's why the same person gets a different result on a different day.

At the same time, no randomness is used anywhere in this app. Given the same input and the same date, the result will always be identical. The day-to-day change comes entirely from deterministic calculations based on your date of birth, your name, and today's date.

About the information you enter

• Name (in Kanji/Chinese characters): used for Name Analysis and the Numerology Destiny Number. The conversion to Roman letters happens automatically inside the app, so you never need to type romanised text yourself.
• Date of birth: used by all 11 systems.
• Time of birth (optional): used for the Four Pillars' hour pillar, Zi Wei Dou Shu's time branch, and the Ascendant in Western and Vedic astrology. If unknown, we calculate as if you were born at noon.
• Gender (optional): used to interpret the Four Pillars, Zi Wei Dou Shu, Sanmei-gaku, and Tibetan Astrology's trigram. "Prefer not to say" is also a valid choice.
• Place of birth (optional): used for the Ascendant approximation in Western and Vedic astrology. Choose from Japan's 47 prefectures or dozens of major cities worldwide; if your city isn't listed or you'd rather not say, we substitute Tokyo (139.69°E / 35.69°N).

Nothing you enter is saved on our servers. It is used only to generate your reading.
